Schedule a Job Shadow Experience:
Who can go on one:
How To:
1) Discover a career that you are interested in learning more about. HERE are some specific things to look for/think about to discover a good job shadow fit.
2) Find someone who works in that field (see Mrs. Jones if you/your parents don't know someone already and she can help get you that connection).
3) Schedule a day when you can come to job shadow them (make sure it is for a day you are missing as little as possible here at school and that works with your parent/guardian's schedule if you need transportation).
4) Pick up Form A from the office or print one HERE and get it filled out by the teachers whose classes you will be missing that day (M/W periods 1, 2, 5, 6 only and T/R 3, 4, 7, 8 only and F ALL periods). Sign the form yourself and have your parent/guardian sign it. Turn it in to Mr. Wolford to sign. He will turn it in to Courtney.
5) Pick up Form B or print one HERE and take it with you on your job shadow experience.
6) Go on your job shadow experience and take Form B with you and have them sign it. Answer the questions on the form about your experience. There are also questions on this form to help you learn more about the career, the path that person used to get where they are, and to fill awkward silences during the day.
7) Turn in Form B to the office when you return.
8) Your visit is now certified and will not count against you. Mrs. Jones will keep these and when you have turned in 3, if you have not met Bucket #2 already, it will meet Bucket #2 requirements.
- Each year during grades 7-10, you may go on 1 job shadow experience during the school day that is certified and won't count against you.
- Each year during grades 11-12, you may go on 2 job shadow experiences during the school day that are certified and won't count against you.
- You may go on more on weekends, breaks or that will count as an absence, if you choose.
- If you go on 3 job shadows during high school, you can count those as a Work-Based Learning Experience to meet Bucket #2 of the Gradution Pathways requirements.

Recruiter Information: Under Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA), schools are required, by law, to give recruiters the name, address, and telephone listing of secondary school students served by that school, unless the parent of a student (or a secondary school student who has reached 18 years of age) has submitted a written request to the school to opt out of this disclosure. As a matter of Department of Defense policy, military recruiters routinely request this information only on juniors and seniors in high school.
